October, as always, was a busy month.
We spent the first weekend in Vancouver with a dear friend to see another friend get married. The wedding and the bride were beautiful. I got very nostalgic and overwhelmed during dinner. There were eleven of us sitting at our table for eight (we totally got dirty looks from the wedding planner!) At least one person from each couple I had gone to college with. Over half of the people I had lived with at one point. And here we were, all adults with our significant others. Catching up, laughing, connecting. I can't quite explain why it overwhelmed me, but it did. It was a lovely weekend.
Of course there was apple picking, pumpkin patches and carving, costume preparations and Halloween! Scarlett really got into trick-or-treating this year. She was a little pro ringing each door bell (sometimes twice), followed by a knock on the door and "trick-or-treat!" She had so much fun and there were only a few moments when I thought we might have slipped into a horror movie. (Bret left us after half a block to run back and get the car due to rain drops and my mind got a little out of hand.)
On to November to teach the little about giving to others...
