Bret and I have had this cheap little cabinet for about 9 years now.
We bought it when we first moved out. It been in seven different apartments/homes as various things. Linen storage, computer hardware storage, random baby stuff storage. I emptied it the other day and realized I didn't have a need for it anymore, but someone else did. So with a little inspiration...
...some paint and new hardware, it became this:
The little miss loves it. Now I just have to find the right piece of furniture to turn into a stove/sink combo and she'll be set!

There are a couple things you should know about the situation in our house.
First, my child has a lot of books. Which is good because Scarlett's favorite past time is reading and being read to. She has a child shelf in her room and two shelves on our big bookcase in the living room that are all full.
Second, I've found that I have a weakness for buy her books.
Third, we have a tiny and oddly shaped rental house. We have to be creative with our space. For instance, our main room is our living room, dining room, office and craft room all rolled into one. I try very hard to make our space still feel homey and well decorated all while being multifunctional and with a renter's mindset.
All this being said we had this strange dead space between our dining room table and our desk.
It was nice for the Christmas tree, but the cardboard pram garage just wasn't doing it for me. But what do I put there? It's a tiny space and there needs to be room to pull out the chair and we can't cover up our stupid wall heater.
Then I saw this great idea of turning Ikea spice racks into front facing book displays and both my problems were solved! Well, after a little bit of shopping and 2 coats of paint that is.
The spice racks were only $16 for all four. The rug $15 and the yellow pillow $7. I had all the paint, the extra frames and fabric and the awesome hedgie pillow.
Sweet reading nook on a budget accomplished!

Last Sunday while Bret and the girlie napped I decided to make a little dress for S from a pattern and fabric I bought before she was born. It's reversible and I added the pocket detail to the front. It's in the next size up so it should fit through the fall at least.

My friend Klay posted about this iPhone app this last week and it is the coolest thing ever! The only app I've ever paid for. I took all of these while Bret was driving. I love them. Check it out.
This one is my favorite.

We made many a-craft this holiday season. Some for just us, some for all and some personalized.
This year's ornament was different from previous year's. It's the first year I used something other then paper.
My little birdies are made of wool felt and stuffed with bamboo filling. Only one was customized with the year.
Two years ago we bought new stocking to replace the ones we bought before we were married. We bought the original stockings for the first Christmas after we moved out of our parent's house. They weren't perfect, but they were the best we could find at Target and we used them six years. Then I found ones that truly fit us and the old ones had to go. We are a bit sentimental around here so we couldn't just toss them. So I cut them to pieces and made three little ornaments like this.
Every year I try to make some sort of Christmas food. This year it was homemade chocolate syrup in sweet little jars with labels I made. Best syrup ever, no need to ever buy Hersey's again.
We also made four really awesome t-shirts for the special kids in our life using bleach pens and our own designs. But these were the eleventh hour gifts, so I was an idiot and didn't get pictures.
