I turned twenty-nine two days ago. I have one more year of my twenties. Thirty seems pivotal to me. Not because I think 30 is old by any means, but because I'm aware now in a way I wasn't before Scarlett, that life is temporary. Next year I'm not a kid, not that I am now, but it seals it for me. My decisions have weight. I don't have years to figure it out because my waiting to make a decision has weight and consequences. Waiting has weight. Time is heavy.
As my birthday approached I realized sadly that I only had a year to accomplish everything I wanted to by the time I was thirty. Then I realized I never made a list and that depressed me more. Most of you know how much I love lists. I missed a large list making opportunity! I have certainly accomplished many things that would have been on the list had I cared to make one. Maybe it good that twenty year old me never made a list. My priorities have shifted and her list and my list now may have been very different.
So on the three year anniversary of my blog, on the twenty-ninth and two day anniversary of me, I give you the make my twenties count list:
Read Banned Books:
I was born the first week the American Library Association started Banned Book Week in an effort to educate people about free speech. In that spirit I want to read several classic books the ALA consider highly challenged as well as the most challenged books in the last decade since I turned 18.
